I don’t have a new recipe of my own to post today. Instead I want to share y’all some super yumminess I have seen all over bloggyland. With temperatures reaching 106 today, I really wanted to FOCUS on wonderful fall recipes. Hopefully that and the AC will distract me from the heat outside.

Curry is warm, it makes me think of fall. Gift Bag Art

28 Sep

I did a feature on my sister in law Teresa with Nestled in Rosenberg not too long ago. It was about her Art from a $store gift bag. She made these

How awesome are they!?! I LOVED her idea! I decided to start hunting for my own $store gift bags and frames to decorate our pretty plain apartment. I found these CUTE girls gift bags at Dollar Tree. My hubby found the colorful frame packs at Target for $2.50 ea.
See the raised pieces? I removed those and put them into the frames. These are the finished pictures. I used scrap book paper behind the images.
The green dragonfly on the floral paper is my favorite!! Alie came to check them out when I was finished.
See, she liked that one best too! This is how I hung them up in her room.
This is a view of the whole wall.

Thanks for stopping by today. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Don’t forget about Terrifically Tasteful Thursdays!! I have also posted pictures of our recent vacation in San Diego for y’all to enjoy. It was a first for our family and the first time our sweet Alie had been to the beach. You can view the pictures HERE!

Fantastically Delicious Turkey Burgers

23 Sep
I made these burgers for my family a few weeks ago.  David told me they were “fantastic” and then proceeded to ask me where his second burger was!  They really were DELICIOUS!  So I made them again and decided I just HAD to share them with y’all.  I bought this seasoning from Big Lots.

If you can find it, BUY IT!!!!  It’s AWESOME!!  I think it’s the little kick that takes these burgers up to the FANTASTIC level.  If you can’t find it use your favorite BBQ seasoning.

You will need
  • 1 pound of ground turkey
  • hamburger buns
  • sliced sandwich cheese
  • lite mayo
  • salt
  • pepper
  • BBQ seasoning
This makes about 4 medium sized (aka NOT Red Robbin sized) burgers.  Season your ground turkey with BBQ seasoning. I used about 2 tbsp.  Then I formed my meat into patties slightly larger than the buns.  This way as they shrink from cooking you don’t end up with a lil silver dollar sized patty inside your buns!  Cook them in a skillet over med-high heat for about 5 minutes per side.  Add a few sprinkles of salt and pepper to each side of the burgers as they cook.  After they are cooked place cheese slices over the patties cover your skillet and remove from heat.  While your cheese is turning into oooey goooey goodness, toast and lightly butter the buns.  I also spread some lite mayo on mine.  Place your cheesy covered turkey patty into the buns and serve!  I served mine with a salad.  I’m a bit proud of myself for doing that…..I wanted to fry up some salty hot fries SO BAD! Enjoy!!! I have posted to pictures of our San Diego trip for y’all! You can see them HERE!!!

Our San Diego Adventure

22 Sep

I’m ready to head back to San Diego right now!  I can not wait to go back.  It is such a beautiful city.  It is full of hills and mountains.  It’s just amazing!  The beach……WOW!  BEAUTIFUL!  Soft sand, clear blue water, the perfect amount of clouds to block the sun.  AMAZING!  The drive wasn’t so bad either.  I would do it again in a heartbeat!  The San Diego Zoo was INCREDIBLE!  Now I understand why it’s so highly rated and famous.  It is beautifully laid out.  There are many levels and hills to walk up.  Many of the exhibits have multiple animals instead of just the “monkeys”.  Like, the chimpanzees share an area with ducks and otters.  Alice had a wonderful time at the zoo.  She was so happy.  She was so happy the whole stay in San Diego.  I can’t wait to take her again.  This time we will have to visit Sea World!  She just loved the beach.  She keeps seeing her beach pictures cycle on the screen saver and she excitedly starts singing “beach beach beach”.  Speaking of pictures, these here are a few of my favorites.

Out of Office Reply

15 Sep

I wanted to explain an upcoming hiatus.  My husband, daughter, brother, sister in law, sweet little nephew and myself are going to San Diego for a much needed vacation.  This will be our, as in myself, David, Alice, and sweet little Jayden’s first time visiting California and the Pacific Ocean.

I can’t tell y’all how excited we are.  My hubs and I are beach bums.  100% total beach bums.  In the 12 years we have been together I would say we’ve spent more than 1/2 of it at the beach.  We LOVE the beach.  We would drive out to the coast for Birthdays, Anniversary’s, Daddy’s Day, Mommy’s Day, Holidays, TGIF Day, Secretary Day, Love Your Mailman Day, International Day for the Preservation of The Ozone Layer, Elephant Appreciation Day!!  We would drive out just because we had nothing better to do!

So, this little vacation we are going on is monumental.  It will be Alie’s first time at the beach!  We took her while she was still in the womb.  My picture on the side bar called The Hubby and I, I was 8 months pregnant, that is when we took her!  This will also be our first time seeing the Pacific but also the ocean in general.  We’ve always only seen the Gulf.  I am so excited!!  I will take tons of picture for y’all too.

If you stop by to check out the Terrifically Tasteful Thursday  recipe go check out….

Art from Sentimental Baby Blankets

13 Sep

I have a stack of Alie’s baby blankets that are my favorites and can not seem to part with.  Not THE receiving blanket she came home from the hospital with or the generic hospital blanket, but others that she seemed to love the most.  I got adventures one day and decided to try to make a piece of art from them.  Something Alie could have in her room for as long as she wanted.  I imagined that one day I would tell her “those are your baby blankets” and she’d be filled with nostalgia!  I took a few that weren’t as important as the others, just in case I screwed everything up, so I wouldn’t cry too hard!!  I followed DecorChicks Rosette Tutorial and made a few rosettes out of her blankets!

I cut strips from the blankets.

Then you take your strips and tie a knot in the middle.  Twist, twist, twist. Roll the twist around the knot and keep rolling.  Dab bits of hot glue as you go.  Side note: Hot glue is HOT…like seriously HOT!
These are my rosettes.
I hot glued some little faux pearls I had in my jewelry making kit on to them.  Then I took some crepe paper and twisted it to make the stems and leaves.

Weeks before I had bought a small shadow box frame from the GW for $1.  I took a piece of cut poster board and hot glued it onto the frame backing.  Then I hot glued the rosettes, steams and leaves on.
This is what it looks like in the frame.

This is where I placed it in her room.  It’s on a little entry wall to her room.

What do y’all think??  I LOVE IT!  I mean, they are my very first rosettes!!  Most importantly was if my sweet Alie Marie likes it.  Every time she notices it up on her wall she says “Oh look Mama, pretty flowers”  That right there, is the BEST compliment I could get!!

I posted some pictures of our San Diego trip for y’all to enjoy!! You can see them HERE!!!
