Alie’s Valentine’s Day Heart Wreath

28 Jan
One day after walking home from the park, Alie stopped and was just staring at this wreath on someone’s door. It looked like thin wood hearts forming a circle.  I told her “Come on baby, Momma can make you one.”  So, I made her one.

I used foam in red and purple. I traced a heart on a piece of paper and then used the heart as a stencil for the foam. I cut out the hearts from the foam and then I glued the foam hearts onto a circle I cut from cardboard.
While hot gluing the hearts to the cardboard I made a “boo-boo” I pulled the glue off after it tried but as you can see, it messed up my heart.
SO, I made a bunch of little ribbon rosettes and glued them onto the hearts. SUCCESSFULLY covering up my boo-boo!
I did all this while Alie napped too. When she woke up and saw it she stared at it just like the other wreath. I asked her what she thought and she said “Oh iss-oh cute!!” The sweetest compliment ever!!!

Valentine’s Day Mantel

23 Jan
Putting together this Valentine’s Day Mantel was so much fun.  My hubby took me to the Goodwill Saturday morning to see what we could find for my mantel.  We found the sweet ceramic red hearts tower, the two red hearts piece, and those precious little teddy bears holding the red love heart!  What a score, huh?  I made both frames.  The first frame, I spray painted Ballet Pink.  Then on a piece of pink scrap paper, I made a heart from glue and some glitter I won from the P K Glitz Blog.
This frame, I also spray painted Ballet Pink.  I made these rosettes from some of Alie’s old baby blankets and glued them onto the frame and added one of my favorite pictures of my own sweet Valentine!
I then tied some twine on to my little mason jar candles and created a heart tag from the same scrap paper.  I tied a bow of tulle around the white vase of my flower.
I made this “Be Mine” garland from the same scrap paper and then wrote “Be Mine” in glue and dusted the glue with the P K Glitz  glitter.
Remember my Paper Rosette Hearts? I hung them on the wall just above the mantel.

And….VIOLA!  My Super Sweet Valentine’s Day Mantel!

I’m so happy with it.  I think it’s very sweet and simple…just like Love is and ought to be.  Alice really loves it!  I’m so happy my hubby bought me this faux mantel.  Thank you sweet wonderful hubby!!  It really is so much fun to decorate!  What do you think?   I hope you love it as much as I do!
Beth with The Stories of A to Z is having a fun Valentines Mantel Link Party.  I’m linking up there and YOU should too!

Paper Rosette Valentine Hearts

21 Jan

Do you remember my Valentines Day Wreath Tutorial?  After “mastering” the art of tissue paper rosettes, I decided to make a few more for our home.  I made these three full hearts.  Again with left over Christmas tissue paper, left over Halloween tulle and some empty cereal boxes.  I am putting together my Valentines Day mantel right now.  I have hung these on the wall just above the mantel.  Let me tell you, I LOVE IT!!  I am so happy with how it looks.  Once everything is together and in place on the mantel I promise to show everyone.  Maybe sometime next week?  Until then enjoy my cute little hearts!
Aren’t they sweet?  When Alie saw them up on the wall this morning she said “Ohhh! So pretty, Mama”

If you would like to the tutorial on how to make these you can find that HERE!

Blog Swap with the gals of To Sew With Love

18 Jan
How are you doing today, lovely blogging friends? I am Lelanie and I am here, in behalf of the other two ladies, Laarnie and Lhorie, behind To Sew With Love, the blog and TSWL, The Shop! Ami and I had been shooting emails back and forth for a while now. But before that, I was first a “stalker” then a “linker” then a “follower”. She has been selfishly giving me with so many great tips and feedbacks! She’s extra nice and sweet, too… It’s like I have known her for years! Thanks, Ami, for being YOU! You’re a marvelous woman! ^^) We are really honoured to do a blog swap with a woman of her caliber. We all know how crafty and talented Ami is!
So, the TSWL started as a Facebook group, which I created with my younger sister Laarnie, and just recently we have decided to take the path of blogging. We were a bit hesitant at first but we warmed up right away, at the same time, overwhelmed by the number of so many warm, lovely and crafty bloggers out there.
So we have decided to start this blog named after our group To Sew With Love. My sister Laarnie and my highschool friend Lhorie contributes to the blog.  I am a SAHM of two kids (a 5-year old Princess and a 2-year old Li’l Guy) who are my heartbeats while my sister is also a SAHM to her 1 year old and a half Little Princess. Lhorie, on the other hand, is single (and available ^^) and has a cute dog named Kiray. I am in Spain, my sister is in Japan while Lhorie is in China but the distance isn’t a hindrance for us. That’s what makes the blogosphere seem so big yet so small ^^)
In our blog, you would mostly be seeing a lot of repurposing, refashioning and upcycling projects in our blog – which I think is one of the favorite pastimes of crafty mothers like me and my sister. We just hate throwing things away. We repurpose those old pairs of pants:
And those ill-fitting clothes of ours:
Or the ill-fitting clothes of our husbands.
We also love creating things from scratch, like pretty pillows-sleeping buddies for my kids:
Have you seen a southern belle prettier than her?
We love jazzing up a bit some things:
We also create with our kids.
We also have some tutorials.
We also host a Thursday giveaway:
a Crafty Saturday Link-up Party:
and starting this Sunday, our We Love handmade Feature Post.
I own an Etsy shop called Arcoíris, which in Spanish means “rainbow”. I love working with colourful fabrics and making something one of a kind out of it. I especially love creating gift sets like this:
or this:
I have a BigCartel shop under the same name where I sell handmade hair accesories and rings among other things:
We also have opened very recently TSWL The Shop where we sell some amazing findings:

handmade accesories and personalized items:

Muchas gracias, Ami, for this blog swap. We are really honoured to have been given this opportunity. I hope your lovely readers could pop over our blog and warm it up a little with their sweet Hi’s.
