Super Easy Easter Tissue Paper Cross for Kids

23 Mar
This is a fun and easy craft for kids and parents to do together.  Our sweet Alie helped me make this one.  Sadly, I didn’t get any pictures of us doing this together.

For this project you will need:
Paper, junk mail, card stock or cardboard to cut a cross from.
White school glue
Tissue paper
Pencil with eraser

First, I cut a cross from a large piece of paper.  The paper I used with a mail flyer.  Then I glued a sheet of tissue paper onto the cross.  I cut little squares from my tissue paper.

Start placing your squares on to the cross with a pencil by placing the eraser end in the center of the square and wrapping the tissue down and around your pencil.

Then, place a dab of white school glue on to the tip.  I placed the glue on the tip for Alie, for the ones that she did.  I have also seen Mom’s place some white school glue into a small dish.  That way the kids can dip the tip into the glue.  When Alie did this the tissue paper came off and stayed in the dish of glue.  It was easier for me to place the glue on it for her.  She is only 2 and a half after all!
Start placing them onto your cross until it’s as full as you like.
When we were finished with ours, I placed it on the wall in Alie’s room with a couple tacs hidden in the folds of tissue paper.

What do you think?  Alie and I did pretty good didn’t we?

For Japan With Love

17 Mar
We have all seen these devastating images. Our hearts are broken. We have been praying earnestly for those affected by the catastrophic events in Japan.  Even my sweet Alie now knows by heart our prayer for Japan each night during our nightly bedtime prayers.

Tomorrow, AliLilly will be participating in the FOR JAPAN WITH LOVE BLOGGERS DAY OF SILENCE to acknowledge and help raise funds and awareness for the devastation going on in Japan.  I hope that you’ll take the few minutes you usually spend here to stop by the For Japan With Love site and contribute if you are able to do so.  They need our help.

From now until March 25th 100% of ALL sales made in my AliLilly Etsy Store will be donated to this cause.

Fabric Rosette Cross

17 Mar
When I first started this cross, my initial plan was to make it with 3 rosettes in a row and with 3 columns.  Then my husband took a look at what I was doing and suggested making it just one row of rosettes with tiny white rosettes placed in all the little empty spaces.  I LOVED his idea and LOVE how it came out.
I have a fabric rosette tutorial you can check out here!!!  I hot glued all the rosettes together.  Then, I cut up a sturdy piece of JUNK MAIL and glued it on the back of the rosettes to give it a little extra firmness.
Then I twisted and hot glued a little twist tie on the back for a hook.
What do y’all think??
I hung it up in Alie’s room just above her sweet vintage praying children we found at the Goodwill.  No matter how much I adjusted the colors I couldn’t get it to quite match the true color of the teal rosettes.  They aren’t quite as dark and are just a few shades darker but match perfectly the color of the little boys pajamas.  Now for the most important question of all.  YES, Alie loves her new fancy MOMMY made cross.

Blog Swap with My BESTEST Friend Bella of Bella Before and After

12 Mar
Hey everyone, I am so happy to be here at Alililly. I love my girl Ami, and am so lucky to have her as a friend. She is so awesome, and generous, and kind, and full of life. She was definitely one of my very first supporters, and I will always consider her very special to me. Thanks Ami for letting me say hi to your readers.
My name is Bella ~ Isabella~ and I am the one behind the blog:
I started on this blogging journey in August of 2010. After being a SAHM for 12 years, it started getting to me. I needed something to call my own, other than my kids, lol. Getting a job, unfortunately is out of the question for now, as my kids need me WAY to much, even more so as they get older. Plus being mommy is my number one joy, and duty in life, right now.
I am Romanian, born in Transylvania, came to the U.S. when I was just a baby, lived in California for a good 20 years, (Orange County) and now live in the south (sigh) with my husband who is from India, and 3 kiddos, who range in age from almost 12 to almost 4, with an almost 7 princess in the middle. I love to cook, and have learned quite a lot of Indian food, of course Romanian food, and I grew up loving Mexican food. I like to blog about food, and share recipes with my readers. I’m particularly passionate about organic, non processed home cooked meals.
Some HOT Kerala Indian fish curry, Bella style!!
Some crazy good BRICK Chicken!!
Savarine, a delicious Romanian pastry!!
Did I mention we make cakes too?
You can check us out on Facebook, for more cake designs!!
I also love to craft, and love to create, and LOVE to save money, and hopefully save the earth a little too, by trying to reuse things I already have, and upcycle other peoples trash. My most favorite kind of craft involves recycling products, and not spending money.
Making the cheapest possible St. Patty’s decorations 🙂
I am growing my own pineapple plant!!
Staying healthy eating oranges!!
Decorating the girls hands with Henna, Mehndi!!
I love to garden and can’t wait to work on it again!!
I also host a weekly party called
I’ve worked really hard at redesigning my blog so I can FEATURE my top 10 every week, on my SIDEBAR, the whole week. It’s a great way to be seen, by the masses, hehe ( I wish), but ONE day, I will be big, and you will BEG to be featured on my blog. Until then I do it happily and love helping out new bloggers, because after all, I’m still learning myself, and support is key to growth.
I love all my followers, and have made some wonderful friends, bloggy friends, and look forward to getting to know you too.
So come on over and see how I clean my stove with my shampoo!

Springtime Crepe Paper Rose Tutorial

10 Mar

I have shared this tutorial on a couple blogs in the past but never here on mine.  I have received quite a few WONDERFULLY SWEET comments on them, so I thought it was the perfect time to share it here.  Spring is here, well it’s here for us in PHX, and these pretty ‘lil roses are quite easy to make.

Roll the top and secure it with a dab of glue.
Start loosely winding the paper around the middle and fold it over as you go.
It will start to look like this.
I did a swipe of glue every few times around.
Remember to roll loosely and fold over as you go.
VOILA! You have a sweet lil paper crepe rose.
While I was making these, Alie handed me this one and said “look mama a fower (flower)” She made this one for me.  I have put it somewhere safe so that I can treasure it for years to come. 🙂

Do you know Marty with A Stroll Thru Life?  I totally adore her.  I really REALLY want to join her Spring Cloche Party but I don’t have anything “Spring-ish” to place in my cloche yet.  So I thought I would showcase my crepe paper roses.  This way I could join her party.  I hope you will too!

I would LOVE to know what you think of my tutorial.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Don’t forget to check out my AliLilly Facebook page.  I’m having a giveaway there to celebrate reaching over 200 fans.  Winner gets choice of any piece of jewelry in my etsy shop!
