Easy Burlap and Pine Garland

2 Dec

So pretty right?  I love it!  My hubby is so sweet, when he saw it he asked “babe, you took pictures of this right?  Cuz, that is totally blog worthy!”  Ain’t he the sweetest!?!

This garland was SO EASY!  I cut a strip of burlap then stapled it up on the wall.  Then, I stapled up a strip of pine garland I got from the dollar store.  I have a bucket of pine cones that Alice has collected for me.  She even had a few in her trick or treat bucket.  It was the sweetest thing.  Not only was she collecting candy on Halloween night but also pine cones for mommy!  I actually hot glued the pine cones to the pine garland.  Then, I made a burlap bow and added the red holly bow in the middle.

That’s it!  Super easy huh?
Did you notice that cute lil tree over there?

There is a sweet story behind it.  My mom bought Alie that tree for her first Christmas.  It’s a baby’s 1st Christmas tree.  My mom says ” It was so cute I just had to get it for her.” Then she shrugged and said ” I don’t know maybe she’ll like to put it up each year afterwards.”  and then a lil Alice Marie tradition was born.  I know it’s only her 3rd Christmas but isn’t it so sweet.  Her very own tree, put up just for her each year.

Alice and I just finished up our Christmas tree, too!  I can’t wait to show y’all!  Here is a sneak peek for now! 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Fall Door Decor

3 Oct

I had SO MUCH MORE planned for this, but it just wasn’t in the cards for me this year.  My front porch needs a good power washing and maybe another coat of paint.  Maybe we’ll have it done in time for Christmas.  I am pretty excited about decorating for Christmas this year.  It’s my first time to time decorating a HOUSE as a home decor and craft blogger!!!  Before blogging and before we lost our home in 06 to a fire I THOUGHT I was a great decorator!!  If you could see what I came up with back then.  It’s pretty hilarious and a bit embarrassing!  Thanks to all you awesome creative bloggers out there I’m learning a few tricks!
SO, as I said, I had much more planned for this.  I wanted a table for this basket to sit on.

I have it inside with these two pumpkins.

I has also planned on getting a table or hay bale to sit the pumpkins on.   I went ahead and set them outside the front door wouldn’t look so bare

See Alie posing?? She’s so cute!!
I used my Fall Rosette Wreath I made last fall, my FIRST ever!  I had planned on using my new Fall Yarn Wreath I made, but I liked it better inside.

My front door needs some help too!

I made the fall leaf garland too.  I strung it up real quick to see how it looked and my sweet Alie saw another opportunity to pose for me!

So, there you have it, my fall door decor.  It’s not EVERYTHING I wanted but I still love it.

And there is my sweet cutie again!! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!

My Fall Mantel

21 Sep

YAY, for crafting again!!  It’s so exciting!  I’ve really missed it and missed blogging!!  I can’t wait to show y’all how I put this together!!  I’m totally loving it!!!
FIRST, I scored all these goodies at Michael’s with their 50% OFF SALE!!!

Then, my wonderful sister in law Teresa, gave me a couple shutters!  And so I painted one to use for the mantel.

Then I made a bunch of felt flowers, cut up a few of those fall floral sprays and started placing everything on a grapevine wreath.  Then placed things here and there on my mantel and VIOLA!!  My new fall mantel!!

I am in love!!! Do you love it??

Here are a few close ups of the wreath.

and the mantel….

I made this fall garland from online stencils, construction paper and twine.
close up of the mantel goodies….

I got that cute fall plant from Anna’s Linens last year or 75% off, the candle is a Paula Dean candle from my Brother and his Wife, and that adorable harvest basket is from my recent trip to Michael’s.
Those are the FIRST fallen pine cones of the season along with some little candles I had.  Now, it’s kinda hard to see but that is the shell or skeleton of an Ocotillo Cactus from North Mountain, AZ. David had grabbed it on one of our hiking trips in AZ.
I LOVE this banana leaf pumpkin basket I got from Michael’s. It’s it so cute!? I think that is my sisters candle and another of the Anna’s Linens fall plants.
I filled the banana leaf pumpkin basket with cinnamon scented pine cones and pumpkins also from Michael’s.

So, what do y’all think??  Do you love it as much as I do!?  My hubby helped me with the decorations too.  AND he came up with a super inventive way to hang the wreath.  He cut and shaped a wire hanger into a PERFECT hanger and it’s totally invisible too!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Alice Marie’s Birthday Banner

20 Jul
First, can I say to all my awesome readers, WOW have I missed y’all!!  Moving from state to state isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.  I’ve been so overwhelmed I haven’t had time to blog.  I haven’t had time to craft, paint, make jewelry.  In fact I haven’t even unpacked my “crafties” box!! 😦  Then today I thought “OH YEA!! I never did the DIY birthday banner post!” SO here ya go!  The DIY Birthday Banner Post! 🙂

For anyone following me you know that I am IN LOVE with the Spring Banner Myra with My Blessed Life made.  I’ve used her tutorial a few times already to make my own banners.

Since I made much of the party decorations for Alice’s 3rd birthday party from a pastel color pack of tissue paper.  I decided to MAKE the paper for this banner. I made the party garland

DIY Party Garland

The birthday cake pom pom banner

DIY Tiny Pom Pom Banner
The party pom poms!!

While I’m showing off…did ya see the cake!??  It ALSO matched the decorations!!!

Alie’s Birthday Cake

SO cute right?  I’m totally proud! 🙂  It’s not as cute as my Alie Marie, though!!
OK! Now to the tutorial!!

To make the paper I just glued pieces of printer paper onto sheets of tissue paper and let them dry over night.

Once the pieces were dry I measured and cut them.  For this banner the squares were all 5″ x 5″.  I saved the left over paper too, so don’t throw it away.

Seeing all the squares stacked like this reminded me of bar napkins.  Now, I was a waitress longer than I care to admit, BUT I do have a cool trick I can teach y’all real quick that I learned in my serving days!
Take a small glass and place it on to of the stack of napkins.

Hold a few of the bottom napkins and press the glass down firmly and start to twist.

After a few twists you have a fancy-shamcy display of beverage napkins!!

OK back to the tutorial!
Take your squares and begin to fold them accordion style.

I lost the pictures of how to turn this into a pinwheel.  BUT, Myra with My Blessed Life, has a GREAT tutorial on how to do these you can see HERE!
Once my pinwheels were made I traced (with a cup) and cut out circles from the remaining paper.

Then I traced and cut letters out from a piece of scrapbook paper and glued them onto the circles.

Then I glued the letter circles on to the pinwheels.

I strung the wheels on twine according to Myra’s directions.  This is what the banners looked like at her party.

Alie and her cousin Jayden having lunch together.
So what do you think?  I LOVE it!  It’s really easy to make, inexpensive and will ALWAYS match your decor!!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Super Fun, Cute and Inexpensive Party Garland

9 Jun

Y’all know I love gettin’ creative with tissue paper.  Of course, I got creative for Alie’s party.  Financially speaking, I wasn’t able to give her the party I dreamt off.  Really who can, if you aren’t Jennifer Lopez!  I made EVERYTHING for her party.  Even the cake!!  Did you see the cake!!!  I’m so proud!!!  I’m not much of a cake decorator, either!!

Alie’s Rainbow Cake
Alie’s Rainbow Cake

Alie Marie LOVED her cake!!  She loved her party!

For this fun garland I used a tissue paper pack of pastel colors for the dollar store, some hot glue and twine.

I used a few cups from Alie’s various kitchen sets.  I traced out circles in all the colors.  I hot glued, just a tiny dab, 3 tissue paper circles in each size.  Three of the largest on bottom, then three of the middle circle and finally three of the smallest circle.  Then I glued all the “dots” onto the twine.  I actually measured out and marked where I would glue each “dot” so that it would be nice and even.

SO easy, right??

This is what it looked like at her party!

It also makes a super cute photo background!!

Having sliced cheese always helps!

Isn’t she just the cutest!!!  I love my sweet biddy bee!

Wanna know how to make these lil cuties??

I guest posted the tutorial on my bestie Kassi’s blog!  Go check it out HERE!! 🙂
