10 Faith Based Kids Crafts for Easter

I’m finding it a little bit challenging to teach my 3yr old what Easter really means.  Trying to distract her from the Easter bunny and coloring eggs with biblical lessons and literature is a just not working.  Go figure that one! HAHA!  I’m not sure that would work on a 13 yr old.  So, I’ve been looking for clever and crafty ideas to show her.  And I found some really great ideas that I would LOVE to share.

There she is, my precious girl!  See her cute painting?  I found that idea on Ministry to Children.  It is SUPER simple to do.  You take paper, using tape make a cross on the paper, hand your kids some water colors and have them paint around the cross, pull off the tape and you have a beautiful handmade piece of Easter art work to cherish forever!!  On the site there is a bit of discussion about the tape pealing off the paper or tearing because of being wet.  I found that if I used medium cardstock and let the painting dry before pealing the tape off it worked out perfectly.

NoBunny Loves You like Jesus
Over at Detail-Oriented Diva, Natalie has made some SUPER cute Christian based Easter basket fillers.  She made those cute NoBunny Loves You like Jesus goodie bags up there.  Now, I know these aren’t necessarily crafts but if you get your kids to help you make them as gifts….well then it’s a CRAFT!  She also made these…
Jesus Cares!
Be Fishers of Men
I love them!  It’s so hard to find faith based fillers for Easter baskets these days.  She includes jpg images so you can print your own labels and make these treat bags for your kids baskets too.  And she made a girl and boy version of each printable.

Resurrection Rolls

I’ve seen these before, heard of them but never made Resurrection Rolls.  This year I’m really excited to try this.  Alice is old enough now to understand the whats and whys of this project.  It’s the PERFECT time and I found a great post at Homegrown Mom for them.  It’s nicely detailed which is great for someone like me, who is making them for the first time.  I know, it seems simple enough right?  Especially for those of you that have made these.  But trust me, I can screw up boiling water!!  So, I greatly appreciate detail and explanation!!  She even gives her input and ideas in how she presents and works out the lessons involved.

Jelly Bean Prayer Easter Gift
At Mama Jenn I found another great idea.  You fill a jar full of jelly beans, attach the jelly bean Easter payer and you have a sweat and cute Easter gift that teaches you about the meaning of Easter.  Each color represents something specific about Easter.
Jelly Bean Cross Craft
And then I found the same idea but with a cross at Apples for Teachers.  You cut out a cross from paper then write or print the poem on the cross.  Then cut out cute little jelly bean shapes in all the colors of the poem and have your kids glue the jelly beans onto the cut out cross.

I also found at Mama Jenn this cute idea for a homemade Easter hat that is perfect to make with your kids.  She was inspired to make this with her daughter after reading two special Easter books about Easter Hats.  They made this sweet hat here from a paper plate, paper bowl, paint, ribbon, glue and fake flowers.

At My Bible Crafts, I found this cute New Creature Butterfly Card.  The site includes printables, instructions and ideas on how to talk about meaning of being a new creature in Christ while creating this card with your kids.
Last year Alie and I (mostly me) made this Tissue Paper Cross as an Easter decoration in her room.  This year, now that she’s a little holder I can’t wait to make some with her.  This is a fun craft to do with your kids and so I HAVE TO share it with y’all!! 🙂
If y’all have any other great ideas, posts or tutorials on faith based Easter crafts for kids I would LOVE to hear them.  Please share!!  I’m a newbie at this, so I need all the help I can get.  I was raised in a Muslim home (my dad COMPLETELY respects my decision to make Jesus my Lord and Savior) and I gave my life to Christ just 13 yrs ago.  Now that I’m raising Alice and teaching her about Jesus, I suddenly feel like I first opened my bible last week!!  It’s amazing the questions she will ask me about Jesus and it’s so disappointing when I stammer and stutter trying to find an answer.  So any help, advice or tips are highly welcome and appreciated.

I hope y’all love these ideas as much as I do!  I can’t wait to show you when Alie and I work on them together.

What Inspires me….

20 Jun

I spent most of my teenage years in angst.  I even spent a few “adult” years in angst too.  Everything I wore was black, room decor was black,  walls black, car black, purse black.  I wore WAY TOO MUCH black eyeliner.  There wasn’t much color in my life.  Fast forward a few years and I met, my now husband, and slowly color began to make it’s presence in my life. Then in August of 1998 I gave my life to Christ.  I was baptized and coming out that water was like getting hit by a kaleidoscope of color.  I learned too, what it means to be a woman.

For about 10 years God taught me how to be a woman, a wife, a sister, a daughter and a true friend.  He was building me up for the greatest job I would ever have.  In 2008 after a 5 year struggle to become pregnant, I had a beautiful little girl.  I was ready for her too.  She was brought into this world and into a whirlwind of PINK.  And to the day she still loves pink.  I’m so thankful that I can teach her how to be a woman, how to love the LORD, how to love color and most importantly how NOT to apply TOO MUCH black eyeliner.

I’m linking this up to the Inspiration Link Party at SNAP!
