Halloween Pennant Garland from Paint Chip Samples

27 Sep
I have another SIMPLE paint chip project for y’all, this adorable Halloween Pennant Garland.  I used a ruler to measure and trace lines to cut the triangles.  Then found stencils online of pumpkins and bats.  YES, those are the same pumpkins and bats I used from my Spooky Halloween Branch and for the Sentimental Halloween Wreath

I glued the pumpkins and bats onto the triangles.  Then glued the triangles to a strip of black hemp cord.  See, I told y’all it was SIMPLE!!

Super cute, right?  What do you think??
I’m linking this cutie up to Jen’s HALLOWEEN party at Craft-o-Maniac!!

Spooky Halloween Paint Chip Branch Mobile

26 Sep

Remember the Fall Branch Paint Chip Mobile I made??  Ann from Make The Best of Things left me a sweet comment with suggestions for Halloween, Christmas and Valentines Day.  Well….here’s HALLOWEEN!!

I LOVE IT!! I grabbed another branch from outside.  Which, in the drought we are in right now in TX, it’s really easy to find a branch just laying around!!  I spray painted it black.  Traced some pumpkin and bat stencils I found online.  Then traced them onto some paint chips and cut out the bats and pumpkins.  SIDE NOTE: something I learned from the fall branch, make sure when using your stencils that you flip them from each side.  Otherwise they wont fit together smoothly.  Then I hot glued a piece of black hemp cord ( you could use black string or ribbon too) on the inside and then stuck the other half of the paint chip on top.  Then I strung up my branch.  I hung it from the ceiling and it just looked funny.  So, I strung it up to the wall.  I’m sure it would look great in a black vase too.  Once it was up I started to sting up my pumpkins and bats.  I LOVE my little Halloween display.

What do you think??  I’m really happy with it!!  Wouldn’t it look great with some webbing and maybe some black bats and grayish white skulls!!?  I need to go find some more branches! 🙂

Fall Branch Paint-chip Mobile

10 Sep
YAY!! FALL!!! This past week it’s FELT like fall here in Texas!  It’s been a welcome change to the record heat here.  It’s seems like we moved from Phoenix back to Houston and brought the Phoenix weather with us.  At least that’s what our family told us!!

ANYWHO, this is a quick tutorial on how to make your own FREE tree branch fall mobile.

Gather a bunch of paint-chip samples in pretty fall colors.  It’s always helps IF they are specially named for fall!

Now, I don’t have a stencil or a paper punch so I traced some leaves that I found online.

Cut out the leaves.  Make sure you have two for each side, if you have one sided paint-chip samples.
I cut some twine and strung on a few beads.

Then I hot glued the twine to the leaves and the leaves together.  Then I strung them up on the branch.  I played around a little bit with location, until I was happy with it.  Then I strung up the branch with 3 pieces of twine.  I positioned to where I wanted it and then tied a loop to hang it from.

Make sure you pan down to take a picture of your little princess who is posing for you!

I really love it, but….I didn’t like how white the twine looked.  My hubby gave me the great idea of coloring the twine with a wet teabag.  It worked great! But, I HIGHLY reccomend that you dye the twine BEFORE you string it all up.  My arms and shirt are dyed as well!

See, much better right!?

Make sure you get another picture of your pretty posing princess!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Spring Flower Wreath from Paint Chip Samples

4 May

Have you seen The Lettered Cottage’s new E-zine?  It is FABULOUS!!  Inside it’s digital pages was this adorable heart wreath from the Flower Patch Farmgirl.  Using inspiration from that I made this little paint chip paper heart wreath for my Alie!  NOW, I do plan on make another wreath that is very similar to the one from the Flower Patch Farmgirl.  It’s just TOO SWEET not to copy!!

For this project I gathered up some paint chip samples from Walmart.  I made a little heart out of card stock and traced hearts on the backs of the samples.

Then I just started to glued the hearts into a circle to form a flower.  This is my first one.  I just HAD to share with y’all just how MESSY it is!  Look at all the glue!

My other flowers started to come out a little better.  I adorned them with little wood beads.

For the wreath I grabbed an empty cereal box and cut a circle from it.  It always helps when your box comes with an image of a circle already on it!!

I don’t have pictures for this next part.  Once I had glued all my little flowers to the circle, well it was lopsided!  It drove me nuts.  I tried everything to fix it and it just wouldn’t work.  I ended up tearing a lot of the flowers.  So, I took it all apart and made a half circle with it.  Then cut a piece of the cereal box to make the other half of the circle.  I wrapped it in ribbon and made a big bow.  Glued the bow to the wreath and….TA DAH!!!

Alie’s new Spring Flower Wreath!

She loves it!!  What do you think??
